Abstract:

The environmental requirement of the river is the amount of water to maintain natural ecological conditions and health of quality of the river water. In this study, to estimate the environmental water requirement of Karoun River, Dez, Great Karoun and Beheshtabad sub-basin (upper Karoun) using hydrological Montana method and offers based on frequency analysis of hydrological flow normally and use tenths. The estimates shows the environmental water requirement is 4800 for Karoun branch, 3000 for Dez, 8000 for Great Karoon basin and 800 million cubic meters per year for Beheshtabad sub-basin that it means there is no surplus water to transfer from dams and Beheshtabad,s tunnels to the central plateau so this sub-basin is only capable to supply it,s consumption , water transferring by Koohrang tunnel and environmental needs of its own.

Rainfall warning Based on indexs teleconnection, Synoptic Patterns of Atmospheric Upper Levels and Climatic elements a case study of Karoun basin

Rainfall prediction plays an important role in flood management and flood alert. With rainfall information, it is possible to predict the occurrence of floods in a given area and take the necessary measures. Due to the fact that the three months of January, February and March are most floods and most precipitation is occurring this quarter, this study aimed to investigate the factors affecting ...

Plateau and Great Basin

The Great Basin and Plateau encompass a vast region of western North America bracketed on the west by the Sierra Nevada and Cascade mountains and the east by the Rocky Mountains (Figure 1). The region is diverse but characterized by ecologically limiting, generally more arid conditions, and higher elevations than other parts of North America. It is also characterized by a type of archaeology th...

Spatio-temporal variations in physicochemical parameters and the influence of them on acumulation of heavy metals in water and sediments of water treatments basin in a part of Karoun River

Assessment of heavy metals concentrations in aquatic ecosystems can be effective to taking actions to improve the quality of environmental conditions. Therefore, this study was downed to evaluate the heavy metals pollution in water and sediments of water supply points of water treatments in Ahvaz and Mollasani along Karun River and the effect of physico-chemical parameters on these pollutants c...

Environmental policy and management of freshwater resources in the Haraz-Ghareh Su Basin in comparison to other Caspian sub basins

Haraz-Ghareh Su is one of the seven sub-basins of the Caspian basin, located on the southern shores of the Caspian Sea, and as such, is in danger of water crisis due to absence of proper systematic policy and strategy. In this study, the pressure factors on the Haraz-Ghareh Su water resources were identified using DPSIR model. Then, the pressure parameters on the freshwater resources in the Cas...

An estimation of Thornthwaite monthly water-balance in Mighan sub-basin

Water resources in arid and semi-arid regions are heavily influenced by climate change, water shortage, water regulations, and increased water demands. Monthly discharge is one of the most important factors in hydrological studies. Some of the basins are not equipped with adequate hydrometric equipment. In such a case, average monthly discharge could be estimated by regional monthly water balan...
